The Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology – State Research Institute is a beneficiary and an active member of the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) programme.

The IBPRS researchers are active within the COST Action CA21149: ACRYRED – Reducing acrylamide exposure of consumers by a cereals supply-chain approach targeting asparagines.

ACRYRED is an international project that brings together plant breeders, cereal cultivation units, grain traders, European food processors, toxicologists, regulatory bodies and consumer groups to establish non-GMO research requirements for asparagine formation in plants, as well as the study of new economic models that cover the full supply chain.

The ACRYRED project is implemented by five Working Groups (WG):
–    WG1 – Interdisciplinary Exchange and Integration of Knowledge on Asparagine and Acrylamide
–    WG2 – Agronomy and Plant Breeding
–    WG3 – Chemistry & Processing
–    WG4 – Cereal Supply Chain Economy
–    WG5 – Risk-benefit of MR Products and its Mitigation

The Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology reseachers are active in WG1 and WG2.

Participation in the ACRYRED project is aimed at exchanging experiences and discussing the current research on acrylamide in food. It also allows to establish direct contacts with employees of scientific units from various European countries, develop joint projects within the framework of the Horizon Europe program, as well as obtain information for successful implementation of research topics, preparation of articles for professional journals, as well as presentations at training courses and conferences.
