3rd General Assembly of NeoGIANT project consortium – „The power of grape extracts: antimicrobial and antioxidant properties to prevent the use of antibiotics in farmed animals”

On the 29-30th of May, in Porto, the consortium implementing the NeoGiANT project (“The power of grape extracts: antimicrobial and antioxidant properties to prevent the use of antibiotics in farmed animals”) met at its 3rd General Assembly. The Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology was represented at this the meeting by: Katarzyna Piasecka-Jóźwiak, Ph.D., Renata Choińska, Ph.D. (Department of Fermentation), Sylwia Skąpska, Ph.D. (Department of Fruit and Vegetable Product Technology), Prof. Edyta Juszczuk-Kubiak, Mr. Artur Wardaszka (Department of Microbiology). Several tasks within the NeoGIANT project are being carried out by the researchers from the above-mentioned Departments.

The Assembly was a working meeting organized on the occasion of the submission of an interim project report to the European Commission. The report summarizing the tasks carried out so far within the NeoGIANT project was discussed by the project coordinator Marta Lores Aguin from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela.

During the meeting, the coordinators of individual work packages presented in detail the tasks carried out during the last 20 months of the project realization. The results obtained were discussed at the general forum and during the meetings within the individual packages.

The discussed topics included the analysis and the characterization of grape extracts obtained with the use of various solvents, application of potential final products of the project, activities in the field of communication and dissemination of project results.
