Łukasz Woźniak, Ph.D. – beneficiary of the European Food Risk Assessment Fellowship Programme (EU-FORA)

Łukasz Woźniak, Ph.D., from the Department of Food Safety and Chemical Analysis of IBPRS, was a beneficiary of the European Food Safety Agency’s scholarship program called ‘EU-FORA’ (European Food Risk Assessment Fellowship Programme). The Programme is a key initiative for ensuring preparedness for future risk analysis needs and aims to enlarge the pool of food safety risk assessment experts available in Europe. It stimulates the involvement of Member States building a common European Union culture for risk assessment.

From January to April this year, Łukasz Woźniak, PhD, Eng., completed a research fellowship at the University of Alicante in Spain. The program of his internship included the implementation of the project under the title – “Assessment of chemical risks and benefits connected with macroalgae consumption”.

During his 3-month stay at the University of Alicante, Łukasz Woźniak had the opportunity to conduct analytical research and extend his expertise related to the use of macroalgae in the food industry and the HoReCa sector. In addition, he also had a chance to visit the headquarters of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) in Madrid as well as one of the local producers of algae.
