On the 15th of September, the Managing Director of the Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology – State Research Institute, Professor Artur Świergiel attended an official meeting with the representatives of science and industry of the United Arab Emirates. The visit of the delegates of Abu Dhabi Food Security Authority (ADAFSA), Al Dahra Agriculture, Abu Dhabi Ports and the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland. The Institute of Horticulture – State Research Institute in Skierniewice was the host of the visit.
During the official part of the meeting, both sides delivered short presentations on the profile and activity of their entities with special focus on the potential areas of research, scientific and educational cooperation. The UAE delegates highlighted the role and impact of their institutions on the economy of the country.
Following the official part of the meeting, the guests were presented with the pilot manufacturing line for bio fruit juices that operates at the premises of the Institute of Horticulture as well as the modern machine plant designed to collect, transport and process fruit for industrial use. The day was concluded with the visit to an ecological fruit orchard.
The bilateral talks between the Institute of Agricultural and Food Biotechnology (IBPRS) and the representatives of the International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICAB UAE) concerned the potential collaboration within the area of sugar technology (i.e dates processing), waste management technology as well training and education with a special focus on the laws and policies regarding food safety.
